Introducing: The Melusine
Next week is the launch of one of our favourite projects of 2019 – The Melusine, a speciality fish restaurant at St Katharine Docks that embraces the unpredictability of the everyday.
Inspired by its waterside location at the heart of St Katherine Docks, founders Theodore Kyriakou and Wade Mundford came to us six months ago with an idea that got our taste buds tingling and our creative juices flowing.
Our role – to build a brand that helped them realise their ambition.
After many workshops, community meetings, supplier collaboration and the odd raw fish or two (five!) we’re excited to see The Melusine open its doors.
From December 2ndThe Melusine will serve a fresh menu of small plates during the day and larger bites in the evening, using produce delivered and served that day.
Reflecting the ever-changing nature of St Katharine Docks and the daily-changing menu, we wanted to build a brand that harnessed the unpredictability of their proposition. From the fish caught and delivered daily and the drinks they pour, to the changing weather and water surrounding them, no two days are the same at The Melusine.
This unpredictability flows throughout the brand. The name ‘The Melusine’ comes from a mythological two-tailed, winged serpent, while illustrations made from five real fish work alongside abstract imagery highlighted with gold to provide a varied and textured visual identity. Each element of the Melusine brand has been brought to life with the ‘unforgettably unexpected’ positioning we extracted from our first workshop.
So congratulations to Theodore and Wade! Thank you for coming to us with such a fresh ambition and your continued commitment to the brand. We can’t wait to see and taste all that The Melusine has to offer!
